On the biggest COVID day for the state on history, the premier has confirmed that Melbourne will go back again lockdown stage 3. It will come into effect from 11.59pm on Wednesday, and will last for at least six weeks until further notice.
For the second time since the pandemic started, there will only be only reasons for residents to leave their homes. These are for food and supplies, work or education, exercise, and caregiving.
Businesses in the restricted areas will also need to close or revert to Pickup/take away again including Cafes, restaurants & bars. Beauty salon, personal services, entertainment zone, food courts, arenas, casinos, pools, cinemas, cultural places, and gyms will need to close.
Schools
School Students of year 11 and 12 students in Melbourne and Mitchell Shire will go back to school for Term 3 as planned.
For those in Prep to 10 year, the school holidays will be extended until further advice from health experts. Andrews said. “I want to let parents know that a return to remote learning for their children if possible”.
Regional Victoria
Restrictions will remain the same in regional Victoria for now as corona virus case are low.
Geelong is not included in metropolitan, but the Mornington Peninsula is.
Victoria Police will be aggressively enforcing the lockdown situation and can issue on-the-spot fines if rules break.
