Good news for International students who could not travel back to Australia due to travel ban closed borders.
The NSW government is a discussion with federal leaders on plans to remove the border restrictions for international students in a move to save regional universities from ruin.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian said “ the quarantine system used to regulate the spread of COVID-19 in returning overseas students had been effective at keeping the community from the coronavirus.”
She said there was no reason that this system, which has treated more than 15,000 returning Australians, could not be used for students excited to come to Australia.
Overseas students bring about approximately $34bn per year into the economy, and the education sector faces major shortfalls from International students canceling admissions.
Australian universities supposed to extend the deadline to enroll for the semester, or to receive studies for a semester, or are proposing online classes.
Announcing the roadmap prior this month, Prime Minister “said permitting international students in was a “option” but only if strict quarantine actions were met.

The education sector’s peak body, has estimated that more than 20,000 higher education jobs could be at risk in six months, with more to look forward, largely due to the sudden decline in international admissions.
Without overseas students, the report warns, the university education sector risks dropping $2.6 billion and 15,000 jobs in 2020.
“We need help and one of the most vital needs is to help our sector plan for the secure arrival of the thousands of overseas students who consider Australia for further education,” A spokesperson of the University said.
Health Minister Greg Hunt urged universities to collect proposals for the government drawing a safe pathway to bring about international students back to Australia.
Last month, education minister Dan Tehan announced almost 5,000 scholarships, worth $15,000 each, targeted at attracting international and domestic students to the provinces.
